Are you tired of living without a sense of purpose or hope? It may be time to turn to God.
Research shows that nearly three out of 10 American adults cite the COVID-19 pandemic as strengthening their religious faith.
You may be wondering, though, if it’s too late to rediscover faith. Let’s take a look at why it’s not too late to embrace the Christian faith.
Why It’s Not Too Late to Return to God
Perhaps you grew up in church but left the church scene when you went to college or began to live on your own as a young adult. Now, you feel lost, and you’re wondering if it’s too late to rediscover faith.
Now couldn’t be a better time to return to God. Research shows that more than 50% of young people in America recently reported feeling hopeless, down, and depressed.
Trusting God with your life is a wise move in any situation. Even if a person doesn’t feel like their future is uncertain, they still need Jesus. That’s because according to the Christian faith, there is no true hope apart from God both now and for eternity.
Will God Still Accept You?
Let’s say you decide to return to faith in God. He will most definitely welcome you, according to the Bible.
The Bible says God loves you. He also wants everyone to know him intimately.
God is not angry with those who have ignored him. Instead, he simply wants you to reconnect with him.
Proof of God’s love is the fact that he descended from His heavenly throne to appear on the earth in the form of Jesus Christ, his son. Then, Jesus died on Calvary’s cross for mankind’s sins or wrongdoings.
When Jesus was crucified on Calvary’s cross, he took on the judgment and guilt that you and every other human being deserved instead. God loves you that much.
After Jesus died for you, he was buried in a tomb but rose from the grave on the third day following his death. He conquered death.
This means you have the hope of eternal life. Even if you pass away one day, your spirit will be with Jesus in heaven forever.
How to Turn to God
You can enjoy the hope of faith and salvation with Jesus by speaking a simple faith prayer.
In this prayer, you should confess your wrongdoings to God. Then, you should tell God you are putting your trust in faith in Jesus.
If you do this, God will forgive you of your sins. Afterward, He will stay with you and guide you, helping you do what pleases him.
Every human being is flawed in both small and big ways. That means nobody besides Jesus is perfect. Everyone needs God.
This is why human repentance is so important. Without repenting of your sins, you cannot enter into a strong relationship with Jesus.
Through repentance, you are turning from your selfish life and following Jesus Christ. You can’t become perfect in God’s eyes and deserving of heaven without going through his son, Jesus.
Biblical Example of Why It’s Not Too Late
In Luke 23:32-43, you’ll read about an important moment during Jesus’s crucifixion.
Roman soldiers viciously mocked and beat Jesus, then hung him on a cross between two criminals. One of the criminals mocked Jesus, telling him to save himself and the two criminals if he were Christ.
However, the second criminal criticized the first one, saying they both deserved the punishments they had been given. He said Jesus, on the other hand, was innocent.
The second criminal turned toward Jesus and asked that Jesus remember him when he returned to heaven. Jesus acknowledged this criminal’s faith and told the criminal that he would be in paradise with Jesus that day.
Jesus welcomed the criminal just like he would anybody else who believes in him and accepts him.
A Glimpse at Crucifixion
At that time in history, crucifixion was a humiliating and degrading way to die. It was also torturous, inflicting immense pain. The crucifixion process was drawn out, long, and public as well.
It is not clear from the Bible what the two criminals had done to deserve crucifixion. However, crucifixion was usually reserved for people who had committed special crimes. These included being an enemy of the state or being a slave who tried to escape from their master.
Jesus didn’t care, though, that the criminal who turned to him had done something heinous according to Roman law. He didn’t hesitate to welcome him anyway.
That’s because Jesus is love, and he is willing to give people second chances.
If Jesus can do this for an outcast like the crucified criminal, he can do the same for you. Don’t hesitate to return to God and make him your Savior and the Lord of your life today.
Rediscover Faith With Confidence Today
It is never too late to rediscover faith. Jesus died on the cross for mankind’s sins so that you don’t have to be punished for your sins. If you repent of your sin and give Jesus your life, you will be saved and have hope both now and forever.
Consider the above-mentioned reasons to turn to God today as you seek to experience a more fulfilling, secure life in the months and years ahead.
