20 Prayer Against Violence

The world today has made many strides towards equality for all people, but there are still some regions that have yet to get on board with this idea.

Prayers against violence are prayers of desperation for peace. They are prayers of hope and a seek for divine intervention against chaos and uproars of all kinds happening around the world.

Many people across the world pray for peace. But what if they instead prayed for an end to violence? Prayer is a powerful force, and one that can be used for good. If you find yourself feeling hopeless or frustrated with the current state of affairs, take a moment to offer up your prayers.

God our creator, we are surrounded by images of violence. We are sorry that man has deviated from your divine will of peace and coexistence and has become a tool for destruction in the hands of the devil. Grant us the fullness of your protection and mercy. Heal our land father lord!

God, we ask for your help in battling with how to respond to the devastation, death, fear, and hatred around us with compassionate love. Protect us with your angels in Jesus name! Amen

God, for ages unending you have arrested, healed and turned the hearts of even the most hardened criminals. Look upon our lands ravaged by the violence and wickedness of unjust men. Arrest their hearts like you did that of Paul, Mary Magdalene, Zacchaeus and others. Seize their thoughts and bend them to your will that we may have and celebrate peace in our land. Amen

Father Lord, we pray that you come and dwell in our hearts and banish all traces of the evil one. Fill us with your grace and make us grow to love and serve you and desist from the machinations of the evil one and create a new world devoid of violence and fear. We ask this in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Psalms 33:12 says “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.”

Lord, you have blessed this nation and I thank You for your never-abiding mercies! Your Word says the blessed nation is the one whose God is the Lord and our nation has turned from You. God, have pity on us, bring Your people to honest repentance and let this nation once again be one who calls You “Lord.”

Lord God, nothing is impossible for you to do. You are the last hope of every man even when all hope is lost and he is desolate. Look with mercy upon us and fulfil the promise you made to your people in Isaiah 60:18 “No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.”

Almighty Father, teach us your way and guide us against mutiny. Instruct us in your gospel of peace and love that we may strive each other to be true Christians and reject the actions of the people whom you abhor in Hosea 4:2 “there is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.”

Jesus, during your time on earth, you showed us how to confront violence and transform it into peace and justice. Make us peacemakers. Fill us with your truth, that we may speak truth to power. Fill us with your courage that we may bring hope to those who live in fear. Amen

Isaiah 6:1 says “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.”

Oh Lord, we need to see You as You truly are, not as what others say You are. Let us see You as holy. Let us understand Your nature, power, character, and might. Let us know Your ever-abiding word in its fullness. Sweep across this land and reveal Yourself like you did to the Israelites. Let us know You, God!

About the last days, Jesus said “Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many shall grow cold” (Matthew 24: 12). Lord Jesus, your words are coming to fulfilment in our cities. Cast away from us every spirit of lawlessness, for lawlessness is of the devil. Make of us a lawful people that will be worthy ambassadors of your peace on earth.

The Bible says, “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him,” (Isaiah 59:19). Standing on your word which never fails, we ask for the triumph of your spirit in our land. Overshadow our city and restore what is broken in Jesus name. Amen!

Isaiah 60:1 says “Arise, shine, for your light has come,

and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”

Everlasting father, cause each of Your children to shine brightly in this dark land and draw others to You. May those without Christ see our good works and glorify You. May we remain steadfast in your injunctions an bring true repentance to the orchestrators and plotters of evil in our land so that at the end; your word in Isaiah 60:1 will be our testimony of your faithfulness to every nation on earth.

Heavenly father, you have solemnly promised to guard and protect your children. We are at war with the enemy, the father of all anarchy and destruction. We cry with broken voices begging that you answer our prayers standing on your words in Psalm 55:15; “Let death take my enemies by surprise; let them go down alive to the realm of the dead, for evil finds lodging among them”.

Lord God, heal our land. To those who have taken up arms in anger or revenge or even in search of justice, grant the grace of conversion to the path of peaceful dialogue and constructive collaboration. We ask through Jesus Christ. Amen!

Matthew 16:18 says: “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”

Lord, You promised that the gates of hell will not overpower Your church. You have a plan that will never fail or change. No matter what, Your purposes will prevail. In your dwelling within your people, we take great hope. Strengthen Your people, Lord! Let us rise to the cry for battle and faithfully stand firm! Stir up our desire for purity, holiness, and intimacy with You. Let us walk in the untameable fire of the Holy Ghost. Amen
