The Christian faith stands up to intellectual scrutiny. Therefore, we are eager to engage a skeptical university in discussion about life’s biggest questions and the modern relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life. That’s the mission of The Veritas Forum, which is in its second year at UB and being hosted by several evangelical campus ministries, including Intervarsity.
The evidence for the physical resurrection of Jesus has led many academic types to trust in Christ. On Thursday, February 19 at 7pm, we will make a historical case for Christ’s resurrection to the University at Buffalo community at our Veritas Forum event, Resurrection: Fact or Fiction. We have the great privilege of welcoming to this event the new testament historian who is considered by many to be the leading scholar in the field of the resurrection, Dr. Michael Licona. Mike is author of a great scholarly work, The Resurrection of Jesus: A New Historiographical Approach, as well as one of the experts interviewed in Lee Strobel’s book, The Case for the Real Jesus. His website is risenjesus.com. Mike’s presentation will be followed by a Q&A session, and the event will end around 8:30pm.
I’d like to invite you to join us for this free event, which is open to the public. It will take place in the Lippes Concert Hall, a 700 seat auditorium in Slee Hall on UB’s North Campus, next Thursday starting at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. We want to pack the auditorium and are opening this up to the public, yet we are targeting the UB community. If you know any UB students or faculty members, please spread the word to them so that they can come to the event and/or spread the word themselves. Our website is veritas.org/buffalo.
